I'm Melissa G., the breeder behind MX Kennel - Central MO located in Vichy, MO. We put a lot of care into socializing them so they can transition easily into their new lives. The loyalty and loving disposition of this breed are simply the best! Proof is in the pudding based on reports of previous litter owner reports :D.
Q. & A. with Melissa
Why did you start breeding?
I decided I wanted to do a bit more than just have "pets" - my goal is to provide others with dogs that love to be with their humans and learn quickly what their human is requesting. ACD's and Aussies are known for their bonding to their special people and fast learning and broad range of skills. My pups have had much shorter hair than the Aussie side, however.
What makes your program special?
I will remain small, in terms of number of females bred -- I only have two currently and even if I add any more, I won't have more than 3 females to breed. I give my litters a lot of individual attention; they take a considerable amount of time and work. When owners commit to a pup, I stay in touch with them, providing progress info and pictures.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Companion Cross puppies are small size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Companion Cross puppies have smooth coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Australian Cattle Dog puppies are red mottled. Companion Cross puppies are blue. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

About Chica
Unable to obtain pedigree or birthdate, but was born in 2020. I bought Chica when she was 2 years old -- I am her 3rd and final owner. She is stout built for her height, averaging almost 30lbs and 16" tall at the shoulder. I am assuming her tail was docked at birth.

Parent health testing
MX Kennel - Central MO reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Australian Cattle Dogs.
DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
