Meet the breeder

I'm Jennifer W., the breeder behind Newcastle Boxers located in Farmington Hills, MI. We strive to produce dogs of superior quality that possess vibrant good health, correct structure, above-average longevity, and proper, stable temperaments. We participate in a variety of events to evaluate structure and temperament, and screen for the health conditions commonly found in the breed.

Q. & A. with Jennifer

  • Why did you start breeding?

We planned and researched for several years before buying our first Boxer puppy, and then we worked with our mentor to produce our first litter, from which came our first AKC Champion. We have continued to research and learn over the last two decades because every litter is different and every dog has something to teach us.
  • What makes your program special?

Our puppies are raw-fed-from-conception, naturally reared, and enrichment-raised to ensure they have the best opportunity to become well-rounded, sound dogs with optimal health. We utilize both the Avidog and Puppy Culture protocols with our puppies; crate, leash, and house train them; and start them on basic training and fun titles like parkour or Geopup Sports.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Good level

Newcastle Boxers reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Boxers.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Brucellosis, Aortic Valve Disease, Canine Good Citizen (CGC)

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
