Meet the breeder

I'm Amy M., the breeder behind Rain Tree Ranch Australian Cattle Dogs located in Monett, MO. My puppies are versatile, intelligent, friendly, easy to train and have proper conformation. I love staying connected to puppy families through the lifetime of the dog so they can ask me questions anytime.

Q. & A. with Amy

  • Why did you start breeding?

I got my first ACD in 1994. I've been hooked ever since! That first dog, Myrtle, was so intelligent and impressive, that people started asking me if I was ever going to breed her because they wanted one of her puppies. Breeding wasn't first and foremost in my mind but so many requests made me curious. What would her puppies be like? So, I began looking for the perfect sire and the rest is history!
  • What makes your program special?

I don't breed my dogs until after their 2nd birthday. I don't feel like they are physically or mentally mature until then. At most, I breed my girls once a year, and I retire them after their 6th birthday. My dogs are family and I want them to have long, healthy lives. I believe breeding more often is hard on them, shortens their lifespan, and increases the chance of other health problems.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include red speckled, red mottled, blue speckled, blue mottled, and blue. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Amy was beyond amazing in every way! She was very helpful in making sure we were completely prepared for our little Bunji boy! I am very grateful that Amy was the breeder I chose to adopt from. She was even very helpful after we got Bunji home and everything! Great communication and the pups are sooo so smart and friendly and well behaved. I will DEFINITELY be referring anyone I know who is interested in becoming an ACD parent! Wonderful experience 100% of the way. Thank you Amy!!!

Amy is just wonderful! I love how good she takes care of all her doggy’s. She gave us a beautiful boy. His name is zorro. He’s so sweet and just amazing. Makes me so happy.

Loving this little girlie - thanks, Amy, for everything. Bindi decided motels are her thing! Although she's still a little wary & getting to know me, she slept next to me all night (no 'accidents') & did a big pee in the morning. Is a pro on the plane in her pet carrier with me (no whining or barking). I think she's going to be a great service dog for me. Very happy with this little red sweetheart!

Oh my gosh! We couldn’t be happier than we are with Serengetti (Shelby). She has grown so fast. She’s super full of energy, loves to be outside. We are looking forward to go camping with her! THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!
