Q. & A. with Brenda

  • Why did you start breeding?

Unfortunately we found that most of the Cattle Dogs in our area have health problems due to poor breeding and decided that we wanted to change that.
  • What makes your program special?

We make sure that our breeding stock have good blood lines and are fully health tested. It is important to us that we raise beautiful healthy dogs with good personalities and working drive. All of our dogs are treated like family and are handled daily. We take a little bit different approach to feeding and healthcare than most breeders. We care about quality not just cost.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include red speckled, red mottled, blue speckled, blue mottled, and blue. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Brenda was well just amazing. I fell in love with my little girl from the moment I saw her. Brenda was so helpful in explaining the process since this was the first time I was buying a dog from a breeder. She kept me updated with pictures and messages about how my girl was doing. When I went to pick her up she had everything ready and made the process so easy. Now I have an amazing little girl who is learning to be a service dog. You can really see how much care Brenda takes in not only breeding but caring for the pups until it’s time for them to go home.

I talked to a couple breeders, Brenda being one of them. I was and am so impressed with her knowledge and her willingness to help. She really cares for her puppies and has a great breeding program. She has talked to me many times and answered many questions. She is dedicated to the continued health of my puppy even into adulthood. I will continue to use her support to make sure my puppy is healthy and happy for a lifetime!

Getting my puppy from Brenda has been a fantastic experience, and I can wholeheartedly recommend anyone looking for a heeler of their own to consider Rundown Ranch Cattle Dogs. Oso has been with me 7 weeks when writing this, but he is learning rapidly and growing into a puppy I'm very proud to own! While raising a cattle dog is an effort and requires daily commitment to the process, it was apparent from the beginning that Oso had been given a great start on life and behavioral foundations like his daily schedule, crate training, and emotional reactions had been cultivated in a healthy manner before coming with me. I feel like Oso and I have been setup for success!

Brenda and her program at Run Down Ranch are absolutely top notch. We reached out to Brenda months before our litter was planned, to let her know exactly what we were looking for in our pup. Brenda kept us informed through the whole process, allowed us to be as involved as we desired, and delivered us an amazing puppy that fit our family perfectly. The time that Brenda puts into socializing the litter was evident from the first time we came down to visit our boy at 5 weeks. He was confident, curious, and unphased by new surroundings and loud noises. When we took him home a few weeks later, those skills were significantly more developed and proved to be a great foundation to train from. He was eager to learn and extremely receptive to training. We have adopted heelers from breeders in the past, so I can say without a doubt that Run Down Ranch was a significant step up. If you’re looking for a quality heeler breeder, I couldn’t recommend them enough!

Let me start by saying that Brenda was the light I needed! She made me feel 100% positive without any doubt she is Legitimate and serious about her dogs. Brenda was Very honest and very knowledgeable about the breed. She explained everything about the screening and early trainings her dogs receive, she goes above and beyond to inform you. Be sure to check out their website . I was able to facetime with her to see my puppy and call her with all my questions. She answered all my questions in great detail. She was very responsive and caring , made the whole thing effortless. I would recommend her over and over again. Our boy wrangler is absolute perfection. He is so smart and so happy! We have had no health issues , and I know that is because of how thorough Brenda is with her process. All in all we could not be happier with the choice we made with our puppy and Brenda. Also going through Good Dog was an so easy! Good Dog made connecting and find our right breeder a breeze. The secure payment option really puts your mind at ease!
