I'm Catherine v., the breeder behind Russford Labradors located in Bath, NY. We're a small hobby breeder of AKC Labrador Retrievers with a focus on genetic health, temperament, and trainability. We strive to raise healthy, even-tempered, and beautiful companions that families are proud to own. Our dogs are true to their breed standard in both conformation and temperament.
Q. & A. with Catherine
Why did you start breeding?
Growing up, my family had a couple of litters with our "pet" Labradors. I was eager to learn more about the breed and what set some breeders apart from others. After competing in AKC performance events, we found our first show dog from a wonderful Mentor and friend.
What makes your program special?
I am continually trying to learn more about the best breeding practices and health for my breed. We've participated in multiple health research studies and recently donated a puppy to become a service dog. We have all watched the Puppy Culture film and implement the protocols for our litters. Our mothers and litters are monitored 24/7 for the first two weeks, and all dogs live in our home.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black, chocolate, and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
