About Stella
Sacandaga’s Starry Night Stella, CGC, CGCA (Canine Good Citizen and Canine Good Citizen Advanced). Stella is extremely intelligent, loyal dog and she is my best friend! She loves everyone, including children and other dogs. She is a certified therapy dog. She has champion and grand champion bloodlines in her pedigree. When she is not taking care of her puppies, she loves to play fetch, go swimming, hiking, socializing, and therapy work. The health of our dogs is of utmost importance. To do everything we can to produce the healthiest pups, the Sir and Dam are health tested through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA), hips and elbow. Eyes are examined by an Accredited Veterinary Ophthalmologist once a year. We have completed DNA screening through Embark. Dilute clear.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Brucellosis
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Copper Toxicosis, Labrador Retriever Type, DNA Disease Panel, PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC), Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM), D Locus (Dilute) DNA test
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
