I'm Richard & Kylie S., the breeder behind Salty Duck Retrievers located in Geneva, FL. We seek to produce healthy, well mannered companion animals and hunting partners. Combining the best of both of these worlds we truly create a priceless addition to our lives. These dogs represent us and are a part of our family.

Why did you start breeding?
Our good friend and hunting partner in Ohio was diagnosed with a terminal disease in 2017. He was (and still is) an avid waterfowl hunter and breeder of hunting labs. We decided at that time we wanted to own a piece of his legacy and carry on his dog’s lines. One litter was all it took for us to fall in love with breeding. Watching these babies grow up and find loving families is so special to us.
What makes your program special?
We will always support our buyers throughout the life of their dog. Any questions or difficulties they have mean something to us. We remember the names of every puppy we have produced. They are family.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black, chocolate, and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Richard & Kylie

Richard & Kylie has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 refundable deposit and $1,700 final payment, before taxes & fees.

"Price includes Full AKC registration, legal Florida Health Certificates, first round of vaccines, multiple dewormings, first doses of Heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Visits are allowed, live camera access to the litter is available. Deposit will be completely refunded if the breeder breaks the agreement prior to pickup. $400 will be refunded ($100 retained) if the buyer cancels the deal."

Richard & Kylie may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. Hello everyone, just some updates: 1. Camera is back on 2. Puppies got collars today, so if you notice them scratching and itching excessively, that’s why! 3. Everyone got dewormed today. 4. There were 3 poops outside the potty zone today, that’s during a 12 hour shift! HOW AMAZING is that? So proud of this 4 week old crew.

Program update on 15 Mar •
The camera batteries have died and to my dismay, someone in the house has used and misplaced my backup batteries. They are a special type so I have to order them, they will be in tomorrow. Sorry for the delay and lack of puppy-footage! The babies have come a long way in just 1 week of potty training and weaning. They love their food. They have learned to not poop inside the whelping house. They have learned not to sleep in the shavings. Many poops are occurring in and around the shavings, and their accuracy will improve with time. Good babies! Toys and collars are on the way!

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
DNA Disease Panel, D Locus (Dilute) DNA test
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
