I'm Richard & Kylie S., the breeder behind Salty Duck Retrievers located in Geneva, FL. We seek to produce healthy, well mannered companion animals and hunting partners. Combining the best of both of these worlds we truly create a priceless addition to our lives. These dogs represent us and are a part of our family.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    Our good friend and hunting partner in Ohio was diagnosed with a terminal disease in 2017. He was (and still is) an avid waterfowl hunter and breeder of hunting labs. We decided at that time we wanted to own a piece of his legacy and carry on his dog’s lines. One litter was all it took for us to fall in love with breeding. Watching these babies grow up and find loving families is so special to us.

  • What makes your program special?

    We will always support our buyers throughout the life of their dog. Any questions or difficulties they have mean something to us. We remember the names of every puppy we have produced. They are family.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include black, chocolate, and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Richard & Kylie

Richard & Kylie has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 refundable deposit and $1,700 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Price includes Full AKC registration, legal Florida Health Certificates, first round of vaccines, multiple dewormings, first doses of Heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Visits are allowed, live camera access to the litter is available. Deposit will be completely refunded if the breeder breaks the agreement prior to pickup. $400 will be refunded ($100 retained) if the buyer cancels the deal.”

Richard & Kylie may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.   • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • DNA Disease Panel, D Locus (Dilute) DNA test

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    The adoption process with Richard and Kylie was a breeze! We were able to have full camera access to Uno (mama) while she was pregnant. Woke up early on Valentine’s Day to alerts that the pups were coming…which we got to watch and it was the coolest thing!!! Kylie always kept us updated on what the puppies were doing… trying food, nail trimmings, outside for play time etc. Also recommended things to have for our pup when we brought him home. Our Yellow Lab boy Cash is 4 months old now and thriving. :)

    Buying a dog from Good Dog and Salty Duck Retrievers was a great experience. We were informed throughout the entire process. The video cameras were awesome so we could see the puppies grow. Picking the puppies was fair and an easy process. We liked the fact that all the medical tests were done and we new we were getting a healthy dog. It has been like having another child but has been well worth it. Maui is very smart from the beginning. Within one week, she sits, waits to go out. She gives both paws on command and lets us know when she has to go out to go to the bathroom. Only one accident in the house since we brought her home. (Amazed) She loves to snuggle. Always has to be touching you when she is chewing on her teething bone or playing with toys. She is also like having a shark with razor sharp teeth. It was crazy for a few weeks but not bad anymore. She listens well. She loves to fetch constantly putting a toy back in your had every time. Hats off to the breeders Richard & Kylie for doing such a great job preparing our puppy before we got her. I know she is going to be a great dog. Today was her first real training class with a pro trainer and and she loved it. She learned a lot of awesome commands in minutes. She loves training, she also likes to carry a small plastic bucket that looks huge in relation to her after I feed our ducks and turtles everyday. She puts her head high and carries it across two acres all the way back to the house and can't wait to do it again.
