I'm Barbara B., the breeder behind Seaside Shih Tzu Cottage located in Newport East, RI. I'm a small, hands-on breeder. My pups are whelped and raised right in my living room, and my dams and sire are my personal pets first and foremost. I believe in quality over quantity. I carefully chose my dams and sire, and I limit the size of my breeding program to raise healthy, well socialized, loving puppies that are bred to the AKC standard.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I got into breeding because of my love of the Shih Tzu breed. I wanted to experience the journey of whelping and raising puppies. I made a choice to breed after owning Shih Tzu for years. I started with joining breeding/whelping groups to learn the ups and downs of proper breeding, found a great breeding mentor of Shih Tzu then carefully choose my dams and sire that met AKC breed standards.

  • What makes your program special?

    I keep my program small, quality over quantity. I breed from my heart. My puppies meet AKC breed standards, well-socialized since they’re raised in my living room and spoiled with love. I work hard to provide puppies of high quality. Dolly is Embark tested for congenital diseases+ & Embark tested for Shih Tzu purity. Avoid 💔 *ask to see test results* wherever you buy your pup. Invest in quality.

Getting a puppy from Barbara

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Price

Puppy prices include a $1,000 non-refundable deposit and $1,300 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Pups VET checked and UTD on shots, 1 year health warranty. If a puppy/adult needs to be rehomed my contract includes I have the first option to take back so that none of my dogs end up in shelters. A deposit is required if I accept you for placement of your choice of puppy to secure it’s yours !”

This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.
