I'm Debbie R., the breeder behind Southern Tastes American Corgis located in Saucier, MS. We work with Corgis with outstanding beauty and good temperament primarily for family pets and occasionally for breeding homes. Our breeding dogs have been tested by Embark and Gensol. We do not breed at-risk dogs. Testing is done for Degenerative Myelopathy, Van Willdebrants disorder, and Exercise Induced Collapse. Breeding dogs also are tested to document Merle and Dilute Genes.

Why did you start breeding?
We lost a Pembroke Corgi to DM. It was devastating. Afterward, I learned about DM testing, and about the same time, I discovered blue merle American Corgis. I fell in love with the blue merles and I was delighted that I could help eliminate the dreaded DM.What makes your program special?
The amount of time we spend with our puppies is what sets us apart. Our puppies are set up in our living room from 2 to 8 weeks with lots of love. We introduce them to so many things in their 6 to the 8-week stage. They are mostly litter trained by 5 weeks, but after 6 weeks they go outside. We love every one of our puppies and strive to provide the best homes for them.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black and white and blue merle and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

“Included with your puppy are CKC litter registration, parents testing results, 6 week vaccination by vet, current worming, socialization, vet exam, and a puppy goody bag. The $200 deposit is to hold a puppy till 8 weeks old and part of the purchase price. It is listed as non-refundable, however, if circumstances dictate, we have refunded the deposit. The deposit applies to the total price.”

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
