I'm Heather M., the breeder behind Tails of an Ausshole located in Dartmouth, MA. We consider each of our dogs a member of our family, even the puppies we breed. They live in our home, on our couches, and in our beds. If we go away, they come with us. Our puppies are no exception. They are handled from day 1 and carefully looked after until they go to their furrever families.

Why did you start breeding?
I started breeding pomeranians about 16 years ago and retired from that in 2009. It was very gratifying knowing I was bringing happy healthy family dogs to people lives. In 2018 I wanted an active dog to bring into our family and after much research decided on an Australian Shepherd. After I got Loki, I was hooked on the breed. They are smart, loyal, and have personalities for days.
What makes your program special?
Our breeding program started with pure love. The happiness this dog brought to our lives was immeasurable & we wanted to share that with others. With much research & patience we were able to find the perfect matches, not just genetically but for temperament and personality. We do not dock our puppies tails for a number of reasons & we don't breed for cosmetics.. We breed for health and happiness.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include red & white, black & white, black, red merle, red, black tri-color, and red tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Heather

Heather has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Puppy prices include a $300 deposit and between $1,500 - $2,100 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Included: 1st Distemper, 1st Deworming Treatment, Microchip, 1 Year Health Guarantee, Health Certificate From AAHA Accredited Veterinarians; & Custom Gotcha Day Package for their Furrever Family. Deposits are intended to hold a specific pup. After meeting the litter should you choose a different pup the deposit goes towards that puppy. Should you opt out all together the deposit is forfeited.”

Heather may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. About Adira
Adira is on the smaller side for a standard Aussie. She is loving and affectionate. Her favorite place to snuggle is in my bed nestled between my husband and myself. She loves a good plushy and uses them to show us how happy she is that we've returned home. She is a vocal girl, she has a tendency to murmur when she is pleased.

About Loki
Loki is our first Aussie. He started it all with his fun, energetic personality. He was quick and eager to learn all the things. He is a happy boy that loves being outside, protecting our flock from hawks, seagulls, crows, and well anything else that doesn’t cluck. He is an affectionate boy who demands our attention. His recall is phenomenal which makes hiking with him a breeze. He's hesitant to swim but he will enter the water to cool down. Loki is still quick to learn new things and will do anything we ask of him.

About Delilah
Delilah is a beautiful AKC Red Tri Standard Australian Shepherd. She is well mannered and even tempered. Delilah likes peace and quiet and loves being anywhere her human mom is including long car rides. She'd rather sunbathe before retrieve a tennis ball. She is the alpha of our pack and demands order. She is a wonderful, nurturing mother. She sticks with her pups, teaching them all the fundamentals up until the day they go to their furrever homes.

About Noah
Noah is our XL ASDR Red Bi-Merle. He stands 23” to the shoulders and weighs 85lbs. Don’t let his size fool you though, he’s a gentle giant who thinks he’s a cat! He has a calm disposition and likes to talk about his feelings. He makes a great role model for his pups too.

Multifocal Retinopathy 1 (CMR1), Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1), PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
