I'm Leigh M., the breeder behind The Sugar & Spice Ranch Labrador Retrievers located in Bandera, TX. Our dogs are our beloved companions. We care deeply about this breed and are proud to be responsible Labrador Retriever breeders. We give our dogs the best lives possible. We are looking for families and individuals that will provide our puppies with the same level of love and care.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I’ve owned Labradors my whole life. They are the most amazing dogs for families and children to grow up with! So, I thought I would share that experience with others.

  • What makes your program special?

    Temperament, Temperament, Temperament, and trainability! I raise all my dogs as family members but, also train them to hunt and track….making them good inside and out!

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our Dilute Retriever puppies include silver and charcoal. Labrador Retriever puppies include chocolate and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Leigh

Leigh has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Leigh partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Price

Puppy prices include a $600 non-refundable deposit and between $1,900 - $3,400 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“We offer limited registration as well as full registration. All puppies will come with a health guarantee as well as deworming and first round of shots. All puppies require a $600 deposit to reserve. All puppies range from $2500 for limited Registration or $4000 for full Registration with AKC and optional UKC for Volterra’s puppies.”

Leigh may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.   • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

    Leigh has made the process of getting our new family member so easy! We chose North (Riley John North) when he was just a few days old, which meant we had to wait over 7 weeks to meet our little guy. Leigh made this so much easier by updating us with pictures and how he was doing on a weekly basis which made the wait so much easier. We picked up our little guy last Saturday and we just adore him, healthy as a horse (likes to eat like one as well).     I found Leigh and The Sugar & Spice Ranch searching through Good Dog for male chocolate labs. The first thing I remember is how beautiful her adult dogs were, and of course Rein was just too cute as well! Leigh was so responsive throughout the entire process. She would send weekly pictures and updates, our family looked forward to every Thursday since that was the day Leigh sent updates. She was so helpful in facilitating our schedule to pick Rein up. We flew into Texas and had to fly with Rein back to CA and she was just so informative with all that we had to do and to make us feel comfortable with the entire process. I highly recommend Leigh. We are so happy to have found her and gotten such a wonderful puppy from her. We couldn't be happier!
