I'm Derek P., the breeder behind Utah Cavaliers located in Utah. We began breeding Great Danes because our passion for the breed. We wanted to promote healthy, long living dogs. Our dogs are always health tested, and meet breed standards. After getting our first Cavalier we became completely obsessed. They are loyal, friendly and truly man’s best friend. They are raised in our home with us. We have children, chickens, and other dogs.
Q. & A. with Derek
Why did you start breeding?
Our first Great Dane was purchased from an inexperienced breeder which led many medical and health issues with her. We decided we wanted to begin breeding to help eliminate the potential health risks to the best of our ability by health testing, OFA and PennHIP to insure the best possible genetics. After owning our first Cavalier we can’t imagine any other breed.
What makes your program special?
Our dogs are first and foremost our family. The raise them in our home with love. They all undergo 3rd party training to insure sound dogs who do well in many situations. We do thorough health screening and testing on all dogs we breed to do our best to only produce healthy dogs with good genetics.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
