We do not place puppies based solely on physical appearance or a family's spot on a waitlist. Instead, we are dedicated to an intentional, temperament-first matching process to ensure a harmonious, lifelong bond. Comprehensive Behavioral Assessment Our understanding of each puppy is built on two distinct pillars: Daily Observation: From the moment they are born, we meticulously monitor each puppy’s development, noting their stress recovery, problem-solving skills, energy levels, and social interactions within the litter. Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test (PAT): At seven weeks of age, we conduct formal PAT evaluations. This standardized testing helps us objectively measure traits such as social attraction, following drive, pain tolerance, and sound sensitivity. Prospect Categorization Using the data gathered from our daily observations and the Volhard evaluations, we carefully categorize our puppies into three primary working paths: 1. Service Dog Prospects: Puppies demonstrating the highest levels of biddability, environmental neutrality, focus, and work ethic. 2. Therapy Dog Prospects: Puppies exhibiting deep empathy, highly gentle sociability, excellent recovery, and a natural affinity for human interaction. 3. Companion Pups: Well-rounded, affectionate, and highly adaptable puppies perfectly suited for active family life and dedicated companionship. The Final Placement The ultimate goal of our program is to set both the dog and the handler up for success. We take the time to get to know you, evaluating your family dynamics, daily routines, handling experience, and specific goals.
