I'm Valerie A., the breeder behind Desert Wind Kennels located in Golden Valley, AZ. Our breeding program focuses on maintaining the unique characteristics specific to Belgian Malinois and Australian Shepherds while striving to produce puppies of superior health, temperament, and conformation. We are proud of our dogs and their puppies, and it is always our goal to preserve and better the breed with each litter. Every Belgian Malinois Puppy is temperament tested, has first shots and deworming, and is microchipped. All parents are genetically tested for breeding compatibility to reduce the chance of genetic health issues. Their hips are OFA Good or better with elbows normal. Eyes are cleared by a canine ophthalmologist.

What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Belgian Malinois puppies include mahogany and fawn. Australian Shepherd puppies include blue merle and black tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Getting a puppy from Valerie
Valerie has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.
Valerie partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 6 weeks old.

"The price includes temperament testing, first shots & deworming, micro chip, socialization, and registration. Puppies raised with Puppy Culture. Deposit covers raising and placing your puppy so the deposit is non-refundable unless your puppy is is placed with another buyer at the original asking price."

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
PawPrint Genetic Panel (Breed Specific), Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

My husband and I have been looking at welcoming a Belgium Malinois into our home for the last 2 years. With their beauty and unmatched intelligence, we immediately knew that a Mal would be the perfect pup for our family and as a working service dog for my husband. Val from desert winds has been amazing to work with. She responds quickly to questions and you can tell how much she loves her pack. We went through the application process when the pups were only 2 weeks old so having to wait until 8 weeks was a bit torturous because we were so excited to meet our future girl. Val shared pics and videos to tide us over until our meeting day. We flew from Chicago to Vegas to pick up our sweet Maggie. Val met us at the airport and our Malinois dream became a reality. She brought us all her documents and transitioned her over to us. Sweet girl did an amazing job on the plane and has warmed up to our family very quickly.
