Rusty has discovered a new joy in life: running through our irrigation flood waters. He is just a happy, love of life kind of dog. And he absolutely adores his special ball. He can play happily by himself bouncing it and catching it but he also loves when someone plays with him. Happy as can be !

The puppies are growing so fast. They are talkative, they let us know when they want to go play, to get picked up, and among themselves they talk and talk and talk!! They love being outside and they love exploring the inside of the house. They have been sneaking into the vegetable garden and they go and watch the chickens. They want to be one of the big dog pack. So they try to chase and wrestle with them. They know how to use their cute little faces to communicate to us. Their normal mode is running, pouncing, leaping and trying to engage others in their play. When they start walking instead I know it is about nap time. They are eating a combo of puppy chow and canned food. I am no longer supplementing with goat milk or whey. Although mom lets them grab a snack as long as they don’t bite her! The vet comes this weekend for check ups and vaccines.

Today’s update highlights the goofy sleeping habits of these puppies. Sometimes they are piled on top of each other and other times they sleep like this: head on the water bowl or up the side of the kennel, legs out, or belly up. Sometimes while they are dreaming they open their eyes but they are dreaming. They even run in their sleep, and talk in their sleep. Silly puppies!!

The puppies are 5 1/2 weeks old and potty training is going well. Every couple hours we go outside. They potty, nurse and then run, and play. They love outside. So much to explore and they enjoy the big Sisters’s attention. They will play until exhausted (30-60 minutes) and then some have learned to use the dog door. They come inside and crash under their playpen. Others are fine to sleep in a shady spot or I will bring them to their pen. They are developing their sweet personalities.

Bethany & Brent S.
The puppies are growing so quickly. We had our first outing in the past week and are now going outside exercise several times a day and a potty break at night. They are romping, wrestling, and learning the rules of play. They already know how to bow to each other to indicate a play is beginning. They are socializing well with the older dogs and love to get snuggles from us humans, as long as they aren’t missing out on wrestling.

A not so professional video of the puppies when they woke from their late evening nap. They were ready for a snack! They get a supplement of raw goat milk and baby rice cereal as part of the weaning process. And they love it! Such cuties. They are very vocal though to let us know when they are hungry.

Last day for these pups in their litter brood box: they have gotten brave and strong enough to climb out at any time. But they decided to snuggle so close (with two stuffed friends) before they could be moved. Everyone has added 500 grams to their weight this week. They started an extra meal of raw goat milk and rice cereal in preparation for weaning. And to give mom a break: their teeth are coming in!! Tonight is the first night in the big puppy kennel. They seem to be very comfortable. Pictures tomorrow!!

The puppies are 7 weeks and they are 95% weened. They think they are part of the big dog pack and often get tangled up in their antics. They have been going in and out of the doggie door at will and sometimes because they need to potty. They still have periods of fast paced play followed by a long nap. They enjoy playing with the puppies who are 9 weeks older. They have been digging, exploring, taunting the chickens, and nibbling our toes and ankles. Think “ankle biters.” It is their herding instinct coming out! We are sad to announce the Beary no longer is reserved for a family, so if you know someone who would like the brother to your pup, connect them here.

The beautiful weather on Black Friday was energizing for the puppies and bigger dogs alike! We had to put the big dogs inside so that the puppies were the stars of the show. They are getting bold with how far they explore in the yard by themselves or with a sibling. They have started digging where the irrigation moistens the soil, and they have started really being interested in toys of various kinds: ropes, stuffies, and balls. But like any baby, the toys we don’t want them to play with are way more interesting. Wrestling sounds like wild animals at play, but they recognize the high pitch yelp as the time out indicator. Human Mama may be more concerned about the rough play than she needs to be but when Mama Brooke says it’s done, it is done! They play hard , then sleep hard. They are eating just dry kibble mixed with canned food at this point. We are done with goat’s milk. They are partially weened from mama Brooke. Mostly it’s just snacks and fillers at this point. They love to be outside. They are having fewer accidents in the kennel. But inside the house has not transferred yet to be the same as the kennel. But they are doing well. They will raise their paw to get your attention and all love to snuggle and kiss. They each demand a few minutes of individual snuggle time when it is supposed to be bed time. And some want more (Bailey!!) all are sweet, sassy and their personalities are starting to emerge. They are love bugs though!!

About Scarlett
Scarlett is a Standard Australian Shepherd and has a beautiful light red sable (light cinnamon) tri color coat. She has beautiful light amber eyes. Scarlett is as sassy as her namesake Scarlett O'Hara, and is the Alpha female in our pack of Aussies. She is a devoted and strong mother, who is protective of her brood but also encourages the young puppies to explore their independence as their age permits. Scarlett loves to play ball but is hardly willing to give up the ball. She will even insist that the other dogs who got the ball first to give it to her so she can get the credit for bringing it back. She is highly energetic, outgoing, and loves all humans to praise and adore her. She acts protective of her humans until she recognizes the cues that they are safe. She reads humans emotions and actions quickly and easily. She has good natural herding instincts and has been instrumental in making sure our escaped chickens return to the pen without harm. She is all personality and energy. Although she is not registered with any dog registries, she is 100% Australian Shepherd.

Bethany & Brent were wonderful!! I could tell immediately that they raised their puppies right, in a very loving home. The whole process was very smooth & easy. I brought home a very happy puppy about a week and a half ago. She remains very happy & she is a character, keep my husband & I very entertained with her antics. She loves the sprinklers & playing in the yard. Sky (formerly Ginny) is the perfect puppy. She is so smart & very quick to learn. She learned to sit on 2 tries & now sits & stays while I prepare her food. We could not ask for a better puppy!!! Overjoyed to have her join our family. Don't think the cat is quite as thrilled, but she too will be fine with Sky. Thank you so much Bethany and Brent for this beautiful experience!!!

This was our first experience with a breeder and our first puppy for our family. It was a quick decision to get a puppy for our children primarily as a companion dog. We searched the web and found Good Dog. We looked through pages of breeders in our area and decided we wanted an Australian Shepherd. We looked through pages of breeders and found Bethany and Brent from Honey and Fig Farm. They had a puppy ready for purchase that was crate and doggy door trained and house trained. We sent a message to them and got a same day response. The puppy we wanted had another family in front of us and they said they would get back to us if they dropped out. We got a message the next day that the family decided to wait on getting a dog. We set a time for the next day to meet with Bethany and Brent and look at the puppy. They are amazing people. They welcomed our family into their home and asked us to spend as much time as we would like with the puppy to make sure she was a good fit. After about an hour and a half we decided the puppy we call Bailey was for us. They made sure we were well educated on the breed and provided us all vet records and a take home bag with toys and goodies to get us started and to make sure Bailey was relaxed and had familiar items in her new home. They made the purchase easy and we were amazed how wonderful these people are. They love their dogs and know how to ensure you get a puppy that is a good fit for you and your family. They reached out during the first weeks and made sure we knew if we ever have any questions, to please reach out to them. We are so appreciative of them and love our new addition.

Our puppy Stella has been so amazing. Bethany took great pride in creating an evening routine with her which truly showed. Stella was familiar with the doggy door, crate and potty routines and even fetching the ball. She is such a delight. Thank you Bethany and Brent for all your love and care. We are so happy that we decided to take this cutie home.

Hi friends looking for furever friends! Working with Bethany and Brent was nothing short of fantastic! Brent offered his many tips on training and how to show the pup who’s boss when needed. Bethany gave so many helpful tips as to feeding and uniting with other pets in the home. Still today Luna misses her siblings as we can clearly tell when she sees her reflection in the mirror or the glass door. You will have the joy of a special pup from Brent and Bethany! They are so loving.

Bethany and Brent were so nice and helpful when we got Reba! She is our first dog and we’re were nervous on how the transition at home would go. But they gave great advice on how to get her settled in. A year later our Reba has turned into an energetic and vocal girl! And we’re already in talks of adopting another girl to add to our family! It’s been a pleasure speaking with them both times! 😄
