Q. & A. with Joyce
Why did you start breeding?
I researched all ALAA breeders in the 5 surrounding States, corresponding with and talking to my top 3 choices. I have developed relationships with all 3 over the past 7 years as well as joined the Doodle Breeders FB forum.
What makes your program special?
We are hands-on, pups are born in our home. We do the ENS, begin consistent early handling, add stuffed obstacles once they begin to move around, use educational toys, teach early manners, climbing over larger obstacles, housebreaking, expose to new environments, textures, sounds, tunnels and strictly vet all the potential adopting families. We choose the pup for each family-based.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies include miniature and medium sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include caramel ice, caramel, apricot, chocolate, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
Lake Lure Labradoodles reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Australian Labradoodles.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
von Willebrand Disease I (vWD I), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC), PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
