Expected Flat-Coated Retriever litter
Due July 2026
I'm Renee M., the breeder behind Maywood Retrievers located in Newport, VA. Temperament and longevity are two of our biggest "must-haves" and we aim to produce that classic retriever who will be a loved family companion for years to come. Though we do compete with our dogs and would love it if you did, too, they are first and foremost a part of our family.

Renee has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.
Renee partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 8 weeks old.
“Puppy temperament testing is performed between 7-8 weeks. Owners do not choose their puppy, but are matched based on temperament testing results. Yes, we even use this to match ourselves to our "keeper!"”

“A deposit will be required once a breeding takes place. All puppies are the same price, and we do not place based on color, size, or order on a list. Puppies are matched based on temperament testing.”
Renee may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Renee offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don't hesitate to reach out to Renee directly.
When you pay and communicate on Good Dog, you’re covered by Payment Protection.
You can drive or fly to pick up your puppy from Renee.

About Sylvie
Having a sense of humor is a must for life with most retrievers, but especially for those with a flat-coat. They are perpetual puppies and Sylvie is no exception. That said, she has matured into a beautiful girl at 22" tall and 55 lbs. Structurally she is athletic and balanced with effortless movement. She loves everyone she meets and is great with dogs, cats, people, and children. We took the AKC temperament test on impulse while we were at an event for something else and she was rock solid, completing each challenge like it was nothing. Sylvie is also the perfect girl in the house, happy to chill with you on the porch or the couch. She sleeps under my feet at work during the day and on our bed at night (even though she's been told not to). We're really starting to come together as a team for obedience, rally, agility, and conformation. She earned the first points toward her breed championship our very first time in the ring! Unfortunately, I haven't shown her this past year as I didn't want to risk bringing something home from the show to our older, immune compromised golden. We'd just started back on our journey the last few months and she'd picked up her first 5 triple Q's plus Master points for her Rally Championship, and then she came into season. We're looking forward to finishing up a couple of championships once she's back from maternity leave!
