I'm Trina S., the breeder behind The Southern Dog located in Az, Yuma, AZ. Our dogs are breed for temperament and personality. Each litter has a mix of black tri and bi, red merle and red tri, and blue merle. Most of the puppies have blue green or grey eyes. The dames line is working class and 4 generation in our household and the Sires line is known for quality show dogs. They come with pedigree, health guarantee, Akc documents and discounts on future training. Parents are genetically tested. The pups move on to our service dog programs or to family as companion dogs. They are kennel trained week 7 and 8 and started on potty training. They are well socialized with grandmas, dad, mom and older siblings on site. They get the advantage of having a dog behaviorist and several trainers in home training the pups as they grow.
Q. & A. with Trina
Why did you start breeding?
Having a farm in Oregon we started assisting the Australian Shepherd rescue foundation to help the dogs become adoptable. We fell in love with this breed and have many generation of the same female line. We strive to strengthen the line with breed continuity and perfecting color both eye and coats.
What makes your program special?
Being raised by trainers and behaviorist gives these pups a leg up. They also have a lot of role models with the dame and sire as well as grandparents on site. We start the kennel and potty training process week 7 to aid in easier adaption when going into homes.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include red & white, black & white, black, red merle, blue merle, red, black tri-color, and red tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
