Meet the breeder

I'm Catherine U., the breeder behind Misty Meadow Cavaliers located in Ridgeville, SC. AKC Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are all we do. Our 2 breeding females have been completely health tested. Our priority is to produce the healthiest family pets and companions we can. Our parents are AKC, health tested through Embark, and are OFA certified. We provide a 2 year health guarantee.

Q. & A. with Catherine

  • Why did you start breeding?

I originally started breeding Miniature Schnauzers and did so for 7 years. I started researching the CKCS and was shocked to see the health issues they had and how it affected their quality and longevity of life. After more research I decided to phase out my schnauzer program and for the past 4 years I have been searching for high quality dogs.
  • What makes your program special?

We are a small hobby breeder. All of our dogs reside in our home as part of our family. Our breeding program is very small as we only have 4 females one of which lives in MA at my sons house and one in a guardian home in MA. We believe in quality not quantity.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include blenheim, ruby, black and tan, and tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

I found Catherine and Misty Meadow cavaliers after a planned adoption with a different breeder fell through due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control. We were feeling raw and uncertain about starting the process of finding a new cavalier to call our own—Catherine was exactly what we needed. She knew the disposition and personality of each of her available puppies, and helped us find the perfect girl to call our own. Our gorgeous ruby girl, Birdie, is everything Catherine promised: incredibly sweet, cuddly, and practically glued to our laps. We have loved every second with Birdie and we are so grateful to Catherine for helping us complete our family with such a perfect pup. Catherine’s communication was great and she made our handoff at the Charleston airport a total breeze. I highly recommend Misty Meadow Cavaliers for anyone looking for a professional, friendly, and communicative breeder and a beautiful, well-bred puppy.

After losing our Juliet to MVD last fall I knew a puppy would help heal our heats. I truly feel Juliet sent Martini 🍸 to us to help us heal. I was doing lots if researching breeders and found Good Dog to be very helpful and lead us to Catherine at Misty Meadows. I can’t thank her enough for her patience in sending photos and giving updates on her progress. I’d highly recommend her. Our vet checked her out today and it’s unanimous. She’s perfect.
