I'm Leslie K., the breeder behind Thornhill Kennels located in Beaufort, SC. As an advocate for the breed, I believe strongly that every Boykin has it's strengths. That is what I breed for. Strength in its pedigree, its health, temperament, disposition, and natural instinct. With acreage to run and water available year-round, our introduction and early training give each of our pups every opportunity to grow to be the best it can be.
Q. & A. with Leslie
Why did you start breeding?
My first breeding was a field type Brittany Spaniel. My first Boykin was such a beautiful female. Once she earned a field title or two as well as her CH, I felt she would be a wonderful addition to the gene pool.
What makes your program special?
What I believe makes my breeding program different from others is that I approach it as simply a continuation from my very first breeding. In addition, it’s about the whole dog. Not just conformation, not just field type, not just performance. It’s about form and function, pedigree, and the placement of each pup in what I believe is a perfect home.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
