Enabling Klarna is completely optional completely optional, and you’ll always have control over whether you choose to offer payment plans to buyers.
If you choose to offer payment plans, potential buyers will see Klarna as a payment option during the checkout process when they go to complete their final dog payment. Buyers will only be able to use Klarna for their final dog payments, and will pay their deposit in full through Good Dog, as usual. Please note that Klarna is only available for Good Dog buyers in the US.
Buyers can choose to split their final dog payment into four interest-free installments, or choose monthly financing. Klarna handles all aspects of the payment plan directly with the buyer, while you receive the full payment immediately.
It’s important to remember that just like with any other payment method on Good Dog, you’ll want to receive payment confirmation before sending your pup home with the buyer. With Klarna, you are paid in full upfront once the buyer completes their purchase. You don't need to wait for the buyer to make their installment payments to Klarna. Even if a buyer tells you they've selected Klarna as their payment method, always wait for your standard Good Dog payment notification that the buyer’s payment has been successfully completed to you before releasing your puppy.

No, you maintain complete control over your pricing. The payment plan option simply gives buyers flexibility in how they complete their final payment to you – it doesn't change your prices.

No, your contract and relationship with the buyer remain unchanged. The payment plan is a separate agreement between the buyer and Klarna.

Klarna determines a buyer’s ability to make their installment payments through an instant credit check. If a buyer doesn’t meet Klarna’s criteria, the ability to pay with a flexible payment plan won’t be available to them, and they’ll pay their final dog payment in full through Good Dog, as usual.

If you enable Klarna in the Pricing & Policies section of your Good Dog dashboard, all buyers will see this option when they are completing a payment to you. However, you can disable Klarna as an option for any future buyers whenever you choose.

There’s nothing you need to do - you receive 100% of the payment upfront, guaranteed. The puppy always remains with their new family, regardless of any missed payments. While buyers may face credit impacts, there's zero risk to you or your puppy's wellbeing.
Q: What if I need to issue a refund to a buyer who paid with Klarna?
You’ll refund buyers through your Good Dog dashboard, just as you normally would. You can still provide buyers with a full or partial refund anytime, for any reason.
