FAQs - Payment on Good Dog

How do payments on Good Dog work?
To get started with payments through our secure platform, just select your preferred payout method on the “Payments” page of your Good Dog dashboard. Then send payment requests from your dashboard or by sharing your personalized payment link, which is also included in your Good Dog dashboard.

Buyers can make an ACH payment or use a credit or debit card (including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and Diners Club). The payments are then sent directly to your preferred payout method.


Am I protected from cancellations and chargebacks?
Unlike other payment platforms, when you use payments through Good Dog, we guarantee your payments and protect you from fraudulent chargebacks and canceled payments. You’re also protected from unauthorized refunds, meaning we never allow buyers to pull money out of your Good Dog account.


Are there fees?
There are never fees for Good Dog Breeders. You invest so much in your dogs already, and it’s incredibly important to us to keep our community free for you.

Your buyers can also pay through Good Dog without paying any required fees.

Your buyers do have the option to complete their payment through Good Dog with Good Dog Protection & Support for a small fee, which includes:
  • Free access ($235 value) to Good Dog’s Puppy Training Program to help them during the critical first year with their new pup
  • Support from our world-class team of veterinarians and behaviorists who are here for your buyers if they have questions as a new dog owner
  • Protection on their payment

If your buyers choose to complete their payment with Protection & Support, the fee is listed completely separately from your prices, which are always in your control, and the benefits are clearly explained to your buyers at the time of payment.


How do I receive money?
When you collect secure payments through Good Dog, you can choose to receive your payments as direct deposits to your bank account or debit card, get them mailed by check, or have them deposited into your Paypal account. On Good Dog, we sometimes refer to these options as “payout methods”, since this is where we will be paying out your funds received through Good Dog.

You can select your preferred payout method and edit your preferences from the “Payments” page of your Good Dog dashboard anytime.
Here’s how the process works: You send a payment request or share your unique payment link with a buyer. When the buyer completes the payment, the money is directly transferred to your payout method, and you receive an email confirming that the payment has been successfully processed.

The funds are paid out to you as soon as your buyer completes the payment, but, like with all electronic payment methods, it may take a little time for the money to travel to you. The amount of time depends on your preferred payout method: 1-3 business days for a bank account or debit card (not including weekends and bank holidays), 24 hours for a PayPal account, and 5-10 business days for mailed checks.


How do you keep my information secure?
Your security is our top priority. That’s why we use the most stringent security measures possible to protect sensitive information like addresses, card numbers, bank account information, and more.
Your financial information is encrypted and never stored on your device or on Good Dog’s servers. This means that even in the unlikely event that someone attempts to access and steal personal information from Good Dog’s servers, they will not be able read or understand your financial information.

Our payment processor is PCI-certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1, which is the highest level of certification available in the payment industry. We utilize bank-level, best-in-class technology to keep you and your buyers’ information safe, including HTTPS and HSTS for secure connections (SSL or Secure Sockets Layer), encryption of sensitive data, and PGP keys to encrypt communications.

We recommend that you and your buyers utilize payments on Good Dog to protect yourselves, your money, and your sensitive information. Paying and communicating directly through Good Dog is the only way for us to monitor and protect you and our community from fraud, scams, and other security issues, such as phishing.


How do my buyers get access to Good Dog’s Puppy Training Program?
Your buyers who complete a full dog payment through Good Dog with Protection & Support get free access (a $235 value) to our online Puppy Training Program. We developed this world-class puppy program with Dr. Gayle Watkins, PhD, trainers, and behaviorists with over 70 years of combined experience. The program includes online courses, live coaching, and detailed guides to help your buyers raise a healthy, happy dog.


Can I use Good Dog for payments with non-Good Dog buyers?
Yes! To use Good Dog for payments with your non-Good Dog buyers, just share your unique payment link that can be found on the “Payments” page of your Good Dog dashboard. Reach out anytime to the Good Dog Specialist Team at breederteam@gooddog.com if you need help locating your unique payment link!

Your non-Good Dog buyers can also choose to complete their payments through Good Dog with Protection & Support so they can receive free access to our Puppy Training Program, lifetime support from our world-class team of veterinarians and behaviorists, and payment protection.


Is it easy to process refunds?
Yes! If you’ve collected a payment through Good Dog and would like to process a refund for any reason, you can simply find the payment in your Good Dog Payments Dashboard and click “initiate refund”. Our Good Dog Specialist Team will then send you an invoice to complete the refund process.
