Meet the breeder

I'm Cory & Brenda E., the breeder behind Low and Slow Bassets located in Tollesboro, KY. We are Cory and Brenda Evans. We raise Pet standard AKC & Embark Tested Basset Hounds. We are really particular with who our Bassets go home with. If you're interested in one of our puppies make sure you fill out an application and our contract. (This does not guarantee you a spot.).

Q. & A. with Cory & Brenda

  • Why did you start breeding?

When we got Buttons and Lemon from a Breeder south of us in KY, we were elated. They had a litter in 2022- and I fell instantly in love. LOVE. I started doing research and learning everything I could about continuing this Breed. This wonderful- sassy Breed. I keep learning every day- and I always hope to keep learning and improving everything I can do for these Bassets. They deserve so much.
  • What makes your program special?

We are very particular with who our babies go home to and place them based on personality and temperament. We ensure all puppies are healthy and vaccinated with their first and second shots before going home. We also have detailed contracts signed and a buy back policy in place. We follow up with our buyers after puppies go home and stay available for any questions that may arise.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black and brown, black and white, mahogany and white, and black brown and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Cory and Brenda from Low and Slow Bassets really care about the puppies and ensuring they go to homes they will be well cared for. I found them to be very professional. I love the fact they asked questions and required a contract to be signed before accepting a deposit. It showed their love of the dogs and professional manner in which they do business. It made me feel more secure about the whole process. They responded very quickly to my application and kept in constant contact with me throughout the whole process. Brenda sent me pictures, videos and updates regularly. It made me feel like I knew Nessie before I even got her. They ensured she had all her shots and went above to ensure she would be in good health when I got her. I was hesitant about getting a puppy that would be coming from so far away. I didn't feel comfortable having her fly on a plane. They made the transportation process so easy. They went above and beyond to get Nessie to me safely. No other breeder I talked to was willing to transport their puppies to me like Brenda did. It was so nice to know Nessie would get to me safely and to actually meet Brenda and her kids. Such a wonderful family and I could see the love they all had for Nessie. They even put together a package with her medical records, important information for her care and registration paperwork. I just love Nessie. She is so intelligent, beautiful and has such a great personality. Even after I got Nessie she has been here to answer any questions I may have. I feel like I made a friend as we keep in touch sending updates and photos regularly. I highly recommend Cory and Brenda. I would definately get another puppy from them in the future. Good Dog helped facilitate matching us up and I am forever grateful. It was an easy process and secure. They have a protection plan in place so you can feel secure doing business on the site.

We Are very happy with Cory and Branda as well with Waylan. She supplied us with a complete history of Waylan and registered him Akc. Waylan is right at home here with us. He is a very smart dog and learns very quickly. He will go to vets on Thursday for his first check up. Would like to send pictures of him for all to enjoy. If you are looking for a dog Good Dog is the place to start and for a breeder Cory and Brenda are very good.

Cory & Brenda were great to work with! They were communicative, sharing info on Charlie's needs for us and our vet to know. They met us more than halfway to pick Charlie up, and Charlie has been a Blessing to us already. We'd recently lost our sweet 13 year old Basset, and she was such a big part of our lives. Charlie can't replace Peaches, but he has the same wonderful traits, and is such a beautiful puppy! Everybody at work wants to puppy-sit if needed. I really appreciate what a healthy pup he is, and the obvious care Cory & Brenda put into their breeding program.

We have been thrilled with our experience with Cory and Brenda and Low and Slow Farms. They answered every question we had promptly and with knowledge. We had to change our plans a couple of times and they accommodated us at every turn. We appreciated that they use The Good Dog company to process everything from communication to payments ensuring security and integrity on both sides. They are super easy to talk to and we could really tell they love and care about everything Bassett Hound! 🖤🐾🐾🖤 P.S. We're pretty sure we got the Best Bassett ever! She's a keeper!
