I'm Nicolette D., the breeder behind Arcane located in Cumberland, RI. Our puppies come from temperament / health tested and titled lines. We compete in AKC/ASCA/UKC. We try to compete in a variety of sports to showcase this beautiful breed’s versatility. When we are not competing, we are snuggled up on the couch. Our dogs are our pets first and foremost.
Q. & A. with Nicolette
Why did you start breeding?
I met and fell in love with my co breeder & mentors foundation dogs. I was able to become part of her program, and the rest was history. We strive to create happy, stable, beautiful, versatile dogs and I’d like to continue on that legacy.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black, blue merle, black tri-color, and red tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?

About Jyn
Jyn is a handler focused but very friendly girl. She gets along with all dogs and people. We compete in numerous sports together and she is my best friend. When we aren’t showing, we are out hiking enjoying time together.

Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
Arcane reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Australian Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
DNA Disease Panel, Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
