Priscilla M.

Breeder of Boxers

Meet the breeder

I'm Priscilla M., the breeder behind Aventura Boxers located in Tacoma, WA. I am a newly established Boxer breeder. I am dedicated to the temperament, health, and longevity of this breed. I have owned Boxers for over 20 years. I put my time, love, and years of experience to ensure I am providing you with the happiest, healthiest, well-rounded dog.

Q. & A. with Priscilla

  • Why did you start breeding?

2020 will be my first year co-breeding two litters. I am thankfully partnering with very experienced breeders in Boxers and dogs in general. I feel my willingness to learn and partnering with these mentors/breeders will be of great benefit to my success in the breed I love so much. Looking forward to establishing a successful small kennel.
  • What makes your program special?

My dedication is to breed for healthy family companions, show and performance prospects, and contribute to the breed positively as a whole. I want to be there for my puppies and their families as a resource and friend. Ensuring my purposefully bred puppies’ sire/dam are fully health tested to our breed club standards.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Good level

Aventura Boxers reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Boxers.

  • Hip Dysplasia

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
