I'm Susan K., the breeder behind Calibre Collies located in Kentucky. Our dogs and pups are raised in our home and are loved as family. We strive to produce high-quality show prospects and companions. Our dogs shine both in and out of the show ring. We are dedicated to improving our lines with each generation so that the breed will continue to thrive for a long time to come.
Q. & A. with Susan
Why did you start breeding?
I was fortunate enough to be the grubby kid that brought the immaculate dog to the immaculate people at ringside. I traveled across the United States and Canada with various people working for them. As I got older I evolved into showing dogs. The dogs always had my heart, and I can’t imagine life without them. They are priority one.
What makes your program special?
I think what makes my breeding program special is that I am invested in not only their beauty, but their health, their temperament, as well as their structure. I feel there is so much testing available to help us make better informed decisions to provide our dogs with the opportunity to a healthy life in conjunction with the best food, healthcare, training, and home life setting.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies include smooth and rough coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black white and tan, sable and white, and blue merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
