I'm Deborah S., the breeder behind Eaglehill-South Miniature Poodles/Classic Biewer Terriers located in Monroe, NC. I do not place any of our poodles until they are 9 to 10 weeks of age. Usually, by 7-8 weeks we have chosen what I am keeping for our next show prospect and what will be available for placement to families. Our puppies are on non-breeding contracts only and are not for breeding ever. I spend an incredible amount of time training and working with our puppies so that they find just the right homes that they fit into.
Q. & A. with Deborah
Why did you start breeding?
I began showing dogs in the 1970's. My breed of choice was English Springer Spaniels shown under the name of Roustabout. When my daughter, Rebecca, graduated from college she wanted a dog to show in obedience and agility and thought it would be fun at the time for a mom and daughter to show a breed together in performance. Thus, my journey into Miniature Poodles began.
What makes your program special?
I have some very beautiful miniature poodles that enjoy showing in conformation, agility, and obedience, barn hunt, scent work and other performance venues. All of our dogs are OFA for hips, elbows, patellas, and have regular "yearly" CERF eye exams. They are genetically tested for PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy), Degenerative Myelopathy, Progressive Retinal Atrophy, Rod-Cone Dysplasia 4 and also the Osteochondrodysplasia gene - (Dwarfism).
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Poodle puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Biewer Terrier puppies include blue tan and white and black tan and white. Poodle puppies include apricot, black, brown, cream, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
