I'm Joyce A., the breeder behind Heavenly German Shepherds & Shetland Sheepdogs Kennels located in Harpursville, NY. Heavenly German Shepherds and Shetland Sheepdogs(Shelties) Kennel is a small country hobby kennel located in Upstate NY. We have had the wonderful experience of interacting with German Shepherds for 40+ years and Shelties for 6 years. We take pride in the quality and temperaments of our dogs and puppies. Our German Shepherds and Shelties all have the finest AKC champion bloodlines. All adults are health tested before being added to our breeding program. If someone is interested in our puppies, they must contact us and request a puppy application.
Q. & A. with Joyce
Why did you start breeding?
My first dog was a German Shepherd approximately 40 years ago. It was love at first sight! Because of my love for the breed and the good temperaments that were noticeable, I decided to begin my breeding program and share that love. With time and research, we have proceeded to better the breed and will continue to do so.
What makes your program special?
When temperatures start dropping, my husband and I start sleeping shifts of 2-4 hours a night so that one of us is with the bitch at all times. When active labor begins, we are both up with her. Until the puppies can see, one of us is always with the bitch and pups. When people are interested in our puppies, they have to fill out an application and be approved for one of our puppies.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
