I'm Not a Fox Shiba Inu

Samantha S.

Breeder of Shiba Inu

Meet the breeder

I'm Samantha S., the breeder behind I'm Not a Fox Shiba Inu located in Austin, TX. We love the Shiba. They are loyal, smart, alert, bold and good-natured. Our dogs enjoy performing tricks, traveling, meeting people, and especially love competition. When we show, they really enjoy themselves and try so hard to win, which, as their partner in the show ring, is such a great feeling!

Q. & A. with Samantha

  • Why did you start breeding?

I bred and trained horses for decades winning local, regional and world championships. My age became a hindrance in meeting the physical demands of a breeding horse stable. Still in love with the science of breeding and understanding the relationships between conformation, movement, health, nutrition, and genetics of animals, along with my deep admiration of the Shiba makes this a natural next chapter.
  • What makes your program special?

After much research, we fell in love with the Japanese Shiba Inu so chose to import our dogs from Japan and adhere to the Nippo standard. Our breeding program is based on the fundamentals that the Japanese esteem important: loyalty, intelligence, good health and the ability to love. These set our dogs and your pup apart from others with ability to learn, desire to please, and loyal companionship.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include red and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
