Night Skye Aussies

Michael B.

Breeder of Australian Shepherds

  • Lonepine, MT

Meet the breeder

I'm Michael B., the breeder behind Night Skye Aussies located in Lonepine, MT. We obtained Skye because we were interested in Ironside Ranch efforts to perpetuate the Old Line Australian Shepherd working dogs. These bloodlines go back to the first Australian Shepherds. These efforts have resulted in dogs that are intelligent, hardworking, independent and intuitive. At the same time, they are loving, loyal companion dogs. Skye was bred with Randy Kidd's of Kidd's Aussies, Kidds Red Goob (WTCH). Goob is also from the Old Line. Skye's pups will be easily trainable and naturals at agility or stock or just chillin with you on the couch.

Q. & A. with Michael

  • Why did you start breeding?

When Skye was given to me and I saw what an exceptional dog she was, I learned about the Old Line of Australian Shepherds. The dogs of the Old Line came from diverse beginnings but were focused into a uniquely all-American breed. I wanted to help preserve what I saw in my own exceptional dog and the long line of quality dogs that came before her. Breeding Skye to another dog of the Old Line Aussies would have the best potential for an excellent working stock dog that could also be a good family dog.
  • What makes your program special?

My wife and I live in rural Montana and our neighbors are a large family that ranches. Skye has been around all types of livestock. agricultural machinery and small children. Our dogs have been raised in a family setting and are included in family life. Our intent was to raise well-developed, strong, genetically clear, loving pups that would transition into your family with little difficulty. This is Skye's first litter. Skye had three Red pups, three red merle pups and three blue merle pups on May 16th. They are all beautiful!
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black & white, red merle, blue merle, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

We had a wonderful experience with the purchase of our puppy. They were incredibly responsive, knowledgeable, and accomadating with any questions or concerns through the process from start to finish. We absolutely love Kyah (Red) and couldn't be happier with her. If you're looking for the best genetics and temperament in a dog, I would highly recommend Night Skye Aussies! They went above and beyond our expectations!

Micheal's responsiveness and expertise in the breed were impressive. He regularly sent updates and pictures, allowing us to witness our puppy's growth. The pickup process was seamless, and we appreciated the opportunity to meet Micheal and Mrs. Barnett. Their dedication to the pups was evident, and Micheal's guidance on adjustment periods, behaviors, and training has been invaluable. We love our little guy Sioux ❤️
