I'm Trent H., the breeder behind Platts Hill Border Collies located in Newtown, CT. We have healthy Border Collies with medium drive, great off switches, and the ability to compete, play, and love. Our goal is to provide owners with a dog that will keep up with their active lifestyle but also be a companion at home. Whether it is agility, frisbee, hiking or just playing with the family, our dogs will not disappoint.
Q. & A. with Trent
Why did you start breeding?
Only after having a great male from a ranch in Montana, did I know I wanted to continue his pedigree. I had one litter with him, and his pops went on to affect the lives of many people in our community. Now I have another male from the same ranch in Montana and a female from upstate New York who are both genetically clear and have great temperaments and am looking to do the same as before.
What makes your program special?
I have dogs from Montana and New York whose pedigrees are so distant that they will make genetically sound pups, and they are both amazing dogs with great personalities and temperaments. I am looking to breed every 2 years, and make sure to meet the buyers in person during the screening process.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have rough coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Daisy is an 11 month old border collie that I adopted from Trent Harrison of Platts Hill Border Collies.
Daisy is such a sweet, fun loving, cuddly, playful pup and not to mention super smart. She had the best start to life at Platts Hill and was raised in a warm, loving environment with Trent and his family! Trent was very interactive with each of the puppies and he dedicated a significant amount of his time in nurturing, playing and caring for each of the puppies while in his care. Trent was great to work with and was extremely transparent throughout the entire process. He shared photos, videos and other important milestones with the families on a daily basis. He is very knowledgeable about border collies in general and was always available to answer questions even after the puppies went home. No question went unanswered! Adopting from Platts Hill has been a rewarding experience to this day and I look forward to all the updates from Daisy’s siblings on the private Facebook page that we all share. You will definitely be part of the Platts Hill family!
