I'm Christy C., the breeder behind Salona- Australian Labradoodles of North America located in Big Sandy, TX. Our priority here at Salona is a well balanced, healthy, properly socialized puppy who will grow to be one of your most treasured family members! Our dogs live with us in our home, or in carefully screened guardian homes, making us a true family breeder.
All our puppies are raised in our home alongside our family. We home educate our children, which gives us the unique opportunity to care for our dogs and puppies 24/7. Once a litter is born, it's all hands on deck for the next two-three months! We love every minute we spend with these puppies until they go home with you. We use the Puppy Culture Method with our dogs to ensure the best possible trajectory for their life.
Our puppy school starts at just three days old! We begin with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), followed by weeks of socialization at the appropriate ages, behavioral shaping games, desensitizing exercises, temperament testing, early crate training and lots and lots of cuddles. We put in hours of love and work so you can have a puppy with the best possible start in life.
Q. & A. with Christy
Why did you start breeding?
Raising these amazing dogs is truly a family affair. We have worked with and raised a couple different breeds of dogs since 2009 including Miniature Dachshunds and Working German Shepherds. We began our journey with Australian Labradoodles In 2017, when health issues and severe allergies drove us to find a family companion with very specific attributes. We have found that and more in the Australian Labradoodle! Intelligent, beautiful, goofy, intuitive, loyal, precocious, sociable and allergy/asthma friendly. They have become the perfect dog for our family and will became the perfect dog for yours!
What makes your program special?
1. Each dog in our breeding program must pass extensive health tests for hips, elbows, eyes, and be certified genetically free of 11 inherited diseases before joining our breeding program
2. We DNA profile our adult dogs and have a genetic coat and color panel preformed to have the best insight into planning litters.
3. We thoroughly screen all our potential breeding pairs for temperament, health, confirmation and genetic compatibility.
4. Our dogs live with us in our own home or in carefully screened guardian homes. They enjoy healthy, happy and fulfilling lives as family pets.
5. We incorporate and utilize the extensive Puppy Culture Method to instill the best possible start in life for our puppies (see https://shoppuppyculture.com/pages/puppy-culture-1 for more information)
6. We offer a 2 year written genetic health guarantee on all our puppies.
