I'm Lisa F., the breeder behind The Blessed Barnyard located in Floresville, TX. The Blessed Barnyard is a family-run, veteran-owned homestead in South Texas, where we raise Miniature Australian Shepherds alongside our kids and daily barnyard life—producing healthy, social, and well-loved puppies. We believe in honesty, integrity, and lifelong support for our puppy families.
Q. & A. with Lisa
Why did you start breeding?
I fell in love with Miniature Australian Shepherds for their loyalty and playful spirit. As a veteran, mom, and former vet tech, I combined my love for animals with our South Texas homestead to start The Blessed Barnyard. Raising Aussies alongside my kids is both a passion and a calling—giving families healthy, well-loved puppies ready to thrive.
What makes your program special?
At The Blessed Barnyard, our program is family-run with puppies raised in our home and on our homestead—not kennels. We focus on health, temperament, and early socialization while using non-toxic products for a truly healthy start. Each Mini Aussie grows up with kids, making them well-loved, social companions ready to thrive in their forever homes.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include blue merle, black tri, red tri, and red merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Originally went in search of a girl mini aussie and found Jade. Went to go see Jade and trusted Lisa that Jade was female. After a vet visit, Jade was in fact male.
Brought this to Lisa attention and she apologized several times and even offered to corrext the mistake on the spot. She had the puppy picked up and immediately started directly sending me photos of the confirmed girls in the recent litter and when they would be avaliable.
I then choose America, now named Oreo. I am exhausted from having to stop what I'm doing everyday because she attracts so much attention! Everyone in the apartment complex sees her and has to come say hello. She has anxiety and gets over stimulated easily at 8 weeks so she clings to me and I have to carry her.
Honestly happy with the results and the new puppy. Eventually want a boy next and Lisa and I have spoken about it but I wanted the girl first. Will be back.

I had such a wonderful experience with Lisa! From the very beginning, she was incredibly kind and helpful. She always responded quickly to any questions I had, and I really appreciated how patient and open minded she was when it came to making accommodations for us. She made the whole process feel comfortable and stress free, and it was clear she genuinely cared about the puppy and the family she was going to. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a thoughtful, responsive, and compassionate breeder.
