I'm Michelle W., the breeder behind Virtue Bull Terriers located in Columbus, OH. My goal is to produce healthy, well rounded, outgoing, Bull Terriers that meet the breed standard.
All parents are fully health tested as recommended by OFA and the BTCA. This includes echocardiogram (heart), annual urine protein creatinine ratio (kidney disease), patella luxation clearance, BAER testing (hearing) and Lethal Acrodermatitis clearance. Always ask for proof of these tests when buying a puppy!
Puppies born here are socialized with varying sizes of dogs, cats, and many people. Puppies are also raised using Puppy Culture. I do everything I can to ensure my puppies are ready to take on the world.
Q. & A. with Michelle
Why did you start breeding?
I learned the hard way the difference between having a well bred dog vs not. As a Veterinary Assistant, I see this problem quite frequently. Some scenarios end with broken hearts.
The Bull Terrier is a breed that is prone to many issues (mentally and physically). One must be careful with their Bull Terrier breeding program to produce well rounded, healthy, adaptable dogs with solid temperaments. This is my goal.
I want to breed high-quality dogs for others to love as much as I do.
What makes your program special?
I title my breeding prospects and do all of the health testing recommended by the Bull Terrier Club of America and Orthopedic Foundation for Animals. I require an application to ensure a Bull Terrier is the right breed for you. This application will also help me match a puppy with your lifestyle and expectations! I also require a signed contract. This allows both breeder and owner to know what is expected of one another.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include white and red smut, white, and red smut and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Parent health testing
Virtue Bull Terriers reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Bull Terriers.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Congenital Deafness (BAER, registered with OFA), Kidney Disease (UPCR)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
