Meet the breeder

I'm Nancy S., the breeder behind Wagmoor Bearded Collies located in Menomonee Falls, WI. Our dogs are our family. We don't breed often but when we do we breed for type, health, and temperament. We have been in Beardies for close to 30 years. We belong to the Bearded Collie Club of America. When we breed we complete health clearances for eyes, hips, elbows and thyroid.

Q. & A. with Nancy

  • Why did you start breeding?

Our first Beardie was a great learning experience, but taught us tons about what a well-bred Beardie actually is. She was lovable and one of a kind and we loved her dearly. Two years later, our second Beardie was bought with much more knowledge about what buying a 'show' dog was about. We met so many people with like interests and have made so many friends around the world because of our Beardies. After getting a conformation championship on our second Beardie we decided to get into breeding.
  • What makes your program special?

We breed for what we think the essence of a Beardie should be. We breed to improve on what we have. Our aim is to breed the best we can with the knowledge we have acquired.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA)
