Meet the breeder

I'm Amanda M., the breeder behind Yuki Ookami Show Kennel located in Heppner, OR. We are a small show kennel in the Northeast. We show in AKC and UKC. We show Siberian Huskies, Schipperkes and do some handling for friends and family with other breeds.

Q. & A. with Amanda

  • Why did you start breeding?

As a show kennel we reserve the right of first picks of all litters for our next show dog. It will take the full 8 weeks for us to decide on a puppy. Show pick. Any puppy that is of show quality will be offered to a show home before being offered to a pet home. The show pick will get priority over pet pick regardless of any pet deposits already on any litter. All pet quality puppies are sold with limited registration papers and a spay/neuter contract. I can't guarantee eye/coat color or gender, only a happy, healthy puppy. All puppies will be de-wormed at 2, 4, & 7 weeks old. Shots are given at 4 & 7 weeks old. All puppies will have dew claws removed, a vet health certificate & micro chipped. Puppies may leave at 8 weeks old All puppies are born in the house and around neighborhood children as well as small dogs and cats. People are allowed to come and meet the puppies and parents. Please email me to arrange for a visit. Choosing of puppies on most litters is done at 4 weeks old. Everyone on the list can come and plays with the puppies. In the order I get the contract & deposits they pick. If they cannot come at 4 weeks old then they must pick by video/pictures. REQUIREMENTS to get a puppy from us: 1. Our kennel name MUST be the first part of ALL puppies registered name. No AKC papers will be given out at pick up. We will register the puppy to the new owners once ALL condition of the contract have been met. 2. All puppies MUST be picked up in person. USDA law doesn't not allow me to ship or meet anyone. 3. Photo ID is required at pick up 4. All PET QUALITY puppies MUST be spayed/neutered by 11 months of age. If our requirements are too hard for you to deal with then I wish you the best of luck finding a Siberian husky puppy. We do this to protect our puppies and the hard work we put into them. Raising puppies of this quality is not cheap or easy. All money from selling of puppies goes right back into our dogs to pay for vet care, quality food, show fees, handler fees, ETC. When done the right way there is no money to be made in breeding. We don’t even break even each year. We do this for the love of the breed not to make money.
  • What makes your program special?

I think any reputable breeder has the same or similar program. It is all about improving the breed.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include red and white, gray and white, and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.
