Meet the breeder

I'm Emily C., the breeder behind Grand River Newfoundlands located in Hale, MO. Our dogs are bred with health & temperament in mind as well as conformation. Each litter is raised with a lot of love and socialization in the home as apart of the family. We work hard to insure that our puppies will be able to be well adjusted to their new furever homes when they leave us here at G.R.N.

Q. & A. with Emily

  • Why did you start breeding?

Hi, my name is Emily who is behind Grand River Newfoundlands (formally Triple C Corgis) I have been breeding and raising puppies going over 10 years now. We are beginning to make a change over to just offering Newfoundland litters at the moment. All of our Corgis are retired and spending their retirement days here just being our lovely pets or are off in their forever retirement homes. I also work as a Veterinary Assistant full time and run a small acreage farm with my grandmother. So with what little time we have we have decided to slow down and offer litters occasionally. (once or twice a year at most) We love to chat about our dogs so if you have any questions always feel free to send us a message and we will get back with ya as soon as we can!
  • What makes your program special?

At G.R.N our dams whelp inside the home so that I can watch over them carefully to insure a healthy and safe whelping. Then our puppies are raised inside our home to be socialized and become accustomed to everyday household activities and noises. When the puppies are around 6-7 weeks of age we move them down to the “big puppy pen” that way they have more room to romp&play. Our puppies are accustomed to other animals (goats, chickens, cats etc) every day farm noises (ATVs, tractors etc) we also start them early on bathing, brushing, nail trims so that they are used to being groomed. We do try to introduce early potty training with them as they grow. Although we cannot promise a fully potty trained puppy.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include white and brown and brown. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Cystinuria Type 1A, Newfoundland Type
