I'm Tracy C., the breeder behind Sutter Bay Retrievers located in Albany, OR. Our puppies are NOT couch potatos, and will enjoy active homes that can keep their minds and bodies engaged. Our litters are multi-purpose, who do well in a variety of homes. It is important to have plans for continued socialization and training classes from the moment puppies come home.

Tracy has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.
Tracy partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 8 weeks old.
“We do APET testing as close to 8 weeks as possible along with watching traits from all puppies over their weeks of growth and development. Puppies going to hunting homes have specific traits we look for as do potential therapy dogs.”

“A limited number of deposits are taken before whelping. Deposits are only taken once the application is approved and are refundable for California residents only due to recent state law changes. Deposit once puppies are whelped can be applied to a future litter, but are not refundable once puppies have arrived. *For California owners, deposits are refundable*. Pre-breeding deposits are $300.”
Tracy may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Tracy offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don't hesitate to reach out to Tracy directly.

Tracy does an amazing job both with raising puppies to be confident family pets as well as answering all questions from potential owners. As soon as I expressed interest in one of the puppies, Tracy called me and answered all of my questions. She was very genuine and honest about what to expect with a puppy from her litter. She shared pictures and videos with us multiple times a week. It was so special to be able to watch the puppies grow up and to see how Tracy was preparing them for life with their new families. We are very happy that our puppy was raised with the care and regard for their future success that Tracy provides

Every aspect of the process with Tracy was excellent! She answered all my questions promptly and keeping up with the puppies until go home day through her updates was a lot of fun. It is clear in each interaction that Tracy makes maximum effort to ensure the puppies have every possible resource to become the best dogs they can be. I love my puppy from Sutter Bay Retrievers and I highly recommend them for your own puppy.

So very grateful for Miss Luna (yellow #4) and Sutter Bay Retrievers. She's such a blessing to have join our family. Tracy is the authentic Puppy Wrangler. We had such a positive experience with her and Good Dog. My wife and I would recommend this process to anyone looking to add a new companion to the family.

If you want to know what the absolute pinnacle of a responsible breeder looks like, it is Tracy! Bringing our Golden Retriever puppy, Sandy, home has been a total dream, and it is entirely due to the phenomenal foundation Tracy built. Because Sandy is a Service Dog in Training, finding a preservation breeder who utilizes elite developmental practices was non-negotiable for us. Tracy completely blew our expectations away! Thanks to her early pellet pan introduction, Sandy arrived practically pre-programmed for housebreaking and is already crushing her potty training. Furthermore, Tracy’s dedication to structural and behavioral soundness shines through her use of Avidog Puppy Evaluation Test scores. Her rigorous temperament testing ensured we were matched with a high-avidity prospect who possesses the rock-solid focus, biddability, and environmental confidence required for public access work. Sandy is remarkably stable, unfazed by new stimuli, and already eager to work. Tracy’s communication is elite, and her ongoing mentorship during this crucial transition week has been invaluable. Whether you are looking for an exceptional family companion or a premier service or therapy prospect, look no further than Tracy. She is spectacular!

We had the best experience working with Tracy to adopt our new puppy, Bruce. This was our first puppy as a family so there is a steep learning curve and the resources and guidance Tracy gave us have been invaluable! The handbook, pet insurance and just general puppy advice have all been amazing. Before we got him the kids loved watching the videos of the puppies on the blog and dreaming about which one might come home with us. Bruce is settling in well with the kids and cats at home and everyone is learning how to take care of each other.

🐾💛 Forever Grateful to Sutter Retrievers! I can’t say enough about Tracy and Tellus at Sutter Bay Retrievers in Oregon! From the very first phone call, Tracy made the whole experience so personal and exciting. Once we put down our deposit for Filson, she gave us 24/7 puppy cam access, weekly Patreon updates with the cutest pics & videos 🐶, and answered every question along the way. For 8 weeks they cared for 19 (!!) puppies—making sure they were healthy, vaccinated, socialized, and ready for their new families. They took the pups on field trips so they’re confident around new people, places, and sounds. Their sleeping and play area was really cool with their creative home made "adventure box" full of items you find around the house to get them used to everyday things. When we brought Filson home, we got a beautiful printed puppy care guide, detailed vaccine/vet schedules, and the peace of mind knowing he had the BEST possible start in life. He was already trained in whistle recalls which was super helpful for off leash. It’s no wonder people travel from all over the country for a Sutter Retriever puppy… Tracy and Tellus are simply THE BEST! 🌟
