Meet the breeder

I'm Dara P., the breeder behind Lazy D Ranch Australian Shepherds located in Pima, AZ. Lazy D Ranch aussies share national and international reputation for excellence: on the ranch/farm, in the field, home and service. Our dogs are confident, affectionate companions and trustworthy, capable, serving partners.

Q. & A. with Dara

  • Why did you start breeding?

Our obsession with australian shepherds started in 2005 when we discovered the miniature variety of the breed. We brought our first two aussies for our breeding program home in October of 2006. They had it all and brought such joy and happiness to our lives. It didn't take us long to realize that they were our ideal breed and the world needed more of what this intuitive breed had to offer.
  • What makes your program special?

By breeding, working and training privately on the ranch we are developing an exceedingly high set of expectations for our dogs as companions, healers and workers. We are creating a type that is completely based on our own needs and personal vision of the australian shepherd as they are needed to assist us in our daily lives.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies include red & white, black & white, blue merle, black tri, red tri, red merle, red, and black. Australian Shepherd puppies include red & white, black & white, black, red merle, blue merle, red, dilute red, dilute blue, black tri-color, and red tri-color. Toy Australian Shepherd puppies include black tri, blue merle, red merle, and red tri. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
